Reports to: Manager of Black 2SLGBTQI+ Initiatives 

Hours & Term: 37.5 hours per week; until March 31st, 2025 (possibility of extension)

Place of Work: Working remotely within Canada (stable, reliable internet connection required) 

Salary & Benefits: $50,000 – $55,000, plus dental and health benefits

Vacation: 4 weeks paid per year, plus 1.5 sick days per month 

Languages required: English and French required. Other languages (including Indigenous languages) are an asset.

 

The Enchanté Network is seeking a Digital Communications Officer, Black 2SLGBTQI+ initiatives to support the Back to Our Roots Project.

 

The Enchanté Network is the largest network of 2SLGBTQI+ organizations in Canada. We connect, support and advocate for more than 200 independent 2SLGBTQI+ organizations. Our network spans every province and territory, and our members include 2 Spirit societies, pride centres, HIV/AIDS organizations, trans collectives, and countless other essential, frontline organizations.

Engagement Responsibilities (20%)

  • Regularly engage current and prospective members of the Enchanté Network to determine their needs and policy priorities and to inform them about relevant opportunities
  • Regularly brief and update the Manager of Black 2SLGBTQI+ Initiatives  on key membership dynamics, needs, and priorities
  • Learn, understand, and follow protocols and traditions of the nations and communities who are members of the Enchanté Network
  • Regularly facilitate stakeholder and network engagement using a variety of methods through virtual and in-person platforms

Website Management (10%)

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy for our website.
  • Manage day-to-day content creation, including writing, editing, and updating website content.
  • Conduct regular content audits and provide support to web maintainers, ensuring adherence to best practices and content accuracy.

External Communication (25%)

  • Create and distribute press releases, newsletters, and other external communications to promote initiatives and engage stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute social media strategies and creative content plans to drive awareness, partnership, and donor engagement.
  • Design and implement targeted and innovative approaches for integrating print, digital, and video content.

Strategy and Planning (20%)

  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in digital marketing and communications.
  • Proactively suggest and explore creative ways to tell our story and broaden our audience reach.
  • Provide strategic advice on communications plans, tailoring content to resonate with specific audiences and achieve optimal results.

Project Coordination (20%)

  • Oversee the marketing and communications strategy for digital initiatives, coordinating execution and collaborating with colleagues on planning and implementation.
  • Coordinate and art direct photography and video projects as needed, working closely with project leads and creative teams.

Performance Measurement (5%)

  • Analyze the effectiveness of digital marketing and communications efforts by translating performance metrics from campaigns.
  • Conduct post-mortem evaluations to inform future strategies and ensure a strong return on investment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in digital communications, marketing, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in website management, social media strategy, and content creation.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communications plans.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing multimedia projects, including photography and video.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Deep understanding of the Black 2SLGBTQI+ communities and commitment to equity and inclusion.

 

Administrative, Operational, and Financial Responsibilities 

  • Create, use and share templates for selecting, booking and paying external facilitators and contractors, as required
  • Track your membership engagement and program event statistics, evaluation indicators to be determined in conversations with the Manager of Programs  
  • Develop proposed program budgets in collaboration with your direct supervisor 
  • Manage and report on your program budgets in conversation with your direct supervisor 
  • Support with administrative, operational, and financial responsibilities, as required

 

Other 

  • Such other duties as The Enchanté Network may reasonably assign to you from time to time.

  • Setting and maintaining boundaries, including when doing work related to identities, oppression, and community dynamics

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, a related field or other relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in digital communications, marketing, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in website management, social media strategy, and content creation.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communications plans.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing multimedia projects, including photography and video.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Deep understanding of the Black 2SLGBTQI+ communities and commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • High proficiency in the use and administration of cloud solutions e.g. Google Suite, Asana, and Slack;
  • Project and event management experience and ability to plan and carry out complex assignments within tight deadlines;
  •  Experience, knowledge of, and passion for Canada’s 2SLGBQTI+ sector;
  • A strong knowledge of and commitment to principles of social justice, anti-racism, and intersectionality; and
  • A team player who exhibits and embraces the values of The Enchanté Network.
