Resourcing 2SLGBTQI+ Communities Initiative
The Enchanté Network’s Resourcing 2SLGBTQI+ Communities Initiative shines a light on the funding available to support 2SLGBTQI+ services and organizations.
Through our network’s research and policy analysis, we advocate for funders to provide “more and better” funding for 2SLGBTQI+ organizations. The concept of “better funding” refers to funding that meets the needs of the communities it is directed towards, such as delivering accessible grants, capacity building funds, and core funding instead of high-barrier restricted funds. Our recommendations for funders are informed by the input from our nearly 200 member organizations in every province and territory across Canada.
To date, our work has secured over $7.5 million in government investment and has shaped the inclusive funding practices of funders across Canada.
We are grateful for the Resourcing Feminist Movements Initative at AWID for inspiring this project.

Laying the foundation for a National 2SLGBTQI+ Endowment Fund
We are laying the foundation for the establishment of a National 2SLGBTQI+ Endowment Fund. Similar sustainable endowment models have already been adopted and implemented by the Government of Canada through the establishment of the Equality Fund and of the Black-Led Philanthropic Endowment Fund. The National 2SLGBTQI+ Endowment Fund would self-sustain indefinitely through the ethical investment income it generates, thereby resourcing 2SLGBTQI+ communities in perpetuity. The fund would be administered through a national 2SLGBTQI+ foundation built by and for community. The organization or organizations chosen to steward the endowment would be chosen by a Call for Proposals led by the Government of Canada
